Their vineyards are located in the Pyrenees which boasts some of the highest elevation vineyards in France. Fresh red fruits, some black pepper, with lovely complexity and seductiveness. A wine that invites you to drink it with relish; powerful with a nice balance between acidity and tannins. (Tech sheet available below)
The climate in Caramy is Mediterranean, but due to the topography and increased altitude (300 meters/900ft), it is slightly cooler and drier than in the coastal areas of Roussillon.
Region: Côtes du Roussillon Villages Caramany, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Varietals: Grenache (80%) and Carignan (20%)
Age of the Vines: Grenache - 50 years, Carignan - 70 years
Farming: organic, manual harvest
Soils: Millas granite with biotite
Vinification: grapes blended after a short maceration in tank, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and moderate sulfites, aged for 12 months in old barrels.
