La Ferme des Confluences

Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine AOP | loire valley, France

all the hallmarks

Located at the meeting point of the Sèvre and Maine rivers in Saint-Fiacre-sur-Maine, Ferme des Confluences sits at the heart of the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine AOP in the western Loire Valley. The estate spans some of the region’s most expressive terroirs on the Armorican Massif, including granodiorite soils on the cliffs of Pont-Caffino (Château-Thébaud cru) and gneiss on the Gras Moutons hill (Monnières–Saint-Fiacre cru). These varied, rocky soils are a defining feature of top Muscadet, giving wines their hallmark tension, saline minerality, and quiet depth.

a new generation rooted in terroir

The project is led by Thomas Foubert, who took on the estate’s vineyards in 2022 after formative experiences alongside some of the Loire’s most respected growers, including Frantz Saumon, Jo Landron, and Domaine de la Pépière. Working closely with Pierre-Luc and Valérie, who began the estate’s organic conversion in 2017, Thomas brings a thoughtful, human-scale approach to farming and winemaking. The vineyards are certified organic, farmed by hand where possible, and planted predominantly to Melon de Bourgogne, alongside Folle Blanche, Chardonnay, Côt, and Egiodola.

why bbi chose ferme des confluences

Bogie’s Best Imports was drawn to Ferme des Confluences for its clear expression of Muscadet’s evolving identity. These are wines that respect regional typicity while pushing quality forward through careful farming, wild yeast fermentations, lees ageing, and minimal sulphur use. Fermented and aged across concrete, stainless steel, fibreglass, and barrel, the wines combine saline freshness with surprising depth and nuance. Ferme des Confluences represents the exciting new trajectory of Muscadet: precise, place-driven wines that offer authenticity, value, and a strong sense of where they come from.
