Maison Crochet

Bulligny | Lorraine, France

not bound to the traditional rules

Maison Crochet is a tiny 5ha organic family winery in Bulligny. Bulligny is a small village in Lorraine, a historically important region of France that borders Germany, Luxembourg, and Belgium—and you know, that’s where the quiche comes from. Maison Crochet embraces the Vin de France designation, so they are not bound to the traditional rules of the region and can better express the terroir.

These wines have aromatics in mind, and that work begins in the field: working by hand, creating a microclimate for fruit maturation, and harvesting by hand to allow for more control during the winemaking process. The northern climate allows for exceptional sparkling wines and a vibrancy that shines across Crochet’s entire line up.

grew up in the champagne region

Through Philippe Brand we met Wilfried Crochet, they went to winemaking school together. Wilfried grew up in the Champagne region, then his family moved to the Lorraine in the 90s and bought vineyards with the intention to start making wine.

Wilfried is now putting his sparkling wine skills to work at the his family’s domaine making excellent value sparkling wines that drink like Champagne plus some very good pet nat. He worked at Savart and is a huge NBA fan, the Portland Trail Blazers are his team, but he loves the Raptors too!
