DOMAINE DES CORBILLIÈRES

Touraine | Loire Valley, France

best value for quality

Domaine des Corbillieres is a small family winery in the Touraine region of the Loire Valley, and is credited as the birthplace of Sauvignon Blanc in the region. We originally sought them out for their Sauvignon Blanc, but their Gamay has proved to be one of the best value for quality wines on our list. The domaine was founded in 1923 by Fabel Barbou, and today the wines are made by his great grandson Dominique, with the fourth generation (his son) Nicolas poised to take over the rains next. They have 28 hectares of vineyards, which are farmed organically, the soils are a mixture of sand and clay, the vines have an average of 25 years old.
